24th January to 13th February 2000 (Weeks 4,5&6)

-----------------

As all the good things in life have to end sooner or later, so does as well our vacation. In order to get a rest and to relax we went for 3 weeks to Magnetic Island. There in the beautiful surroundings of the Dunoon Resort, we spent our time by reading (around 3'500 pages), playing lawn bowls and not to forget the hours we spent in the beautiful lagoon style pool of the resort. Whilst Veronika usually beats me in lawn bowling i managed to win most of the minigolf and darts games. The eveings we spent often with our friends Kym and John, the managers of the Dunoon Resort, and their dog Two Pence.

Besides relaxation we ventured on numerous occasions out into the Magnetic Island Nationalpark to visit numerous beaches and to walk up to the forts. The forts were used during the second world war to protect the city of Townsville on the mainland. Wild Koalas can usualloy be spoted pretty easily along the forts walk.
